Weatherboard Cladding

Our Weatherboard Cladding is manufactured by Freefoam and has seen a huge rise in popularity in recent years with national housebuilders, architects, planners and homeowners all favouring this style of wall cladding.

The cladding is traditional in appearance delivering the classic “New England” style perfect for those seeking a traditional feather edge finish with a textured wood effect appearance.

Pastel coloured and embossed in a 170mm profile, weatherboard can be used as an alternative finish to brick or render. Similar in appearance to the cement-based cladding, our weatherboards are guaranteed for 10 years (20 years for the white option) offering a maintenance free solution to your cladding needs.

The 170mm profile gives each board a slightly larger profile than the traditional Shiplap or V joint lending itself to larger areas such as summer houses and front facing elevations on houses.

Weatherboard Cladding is very easy to fit offering a true alternative to painted timber or heavy, brittle cement boards. Unlike cement boards, Weatherboard Cladding is easy to fix using our wide range of trims. Panels are designed to make storing, handling and fitting the range quick and easy – with each panel weighing just 3.15kg per 5 metre board. In comparison, this is some 4 times lighter than a fibre cement board.

WEATHERBOARD CLADDING FITTING INSTRUCTIONS

Our ranges come in standard lengths of 5 metres and are straight forward to install

If the installation is over walls which are not weather tight themselves or which are in exposed locations it is recommended that a suitable backing membrane be used to ensure the water tightness of the application.

When it comes to installation it is important that the correct trims are used in the correct places - you should always start the installation with a starter trim, in which the first board is fixed. You can then fix that board on to your batten - the next board can cover the joint and the edges of the installation can be covered by using a variety of trims.

If you are going around a corner, we have a corner trim which has openings to accept the cladding at 90 degrees to each other. Joint trims and butt joints can be used to allow for expansion between the boards either in a straight-line or staggered style.

Two-part trims can be used for the top edge and finishing under a soffit or window and drip trims can be used under a window.
