Coach Screws

Coach screws are hex headed heavy duty woodscrews that are designed to screw straight into strong substrates such as wood and masonry. They are most commonly used in applications where heavy timber is being fitted into position, such as installing fences and gates.

When drilling a coach screw into masonry, a nylon wall plug is required. When drilling into wood, a pilot hole should be drilled beforehand, and the diameter of the pilot hole is dependant on the type of wood being drilled into. For hardwood, the pilot hole should be three quarters of the size of the coach screw and for softwoods, it should be half the size.

Our coach screws are made from bright zinc plated steel, conform to the DIN 571 standard and are available in a wide range of diameters and thread lengths.
